, , and more.WASHINGTON _ President Donald Trump promised to usher in a “new golden age” of America Monday, taking office as the 47th president with plans to use the military to deport immigrants, end diversity efforts, attempt a “manifest destiny” to outer space and more in his second inaugural address.
The richest men in the world, including top White House adviser Elon Musk, filled the Capitol Rotunda along with the living former presidents, lawmakers, media celebrities and a coterie of top Trump aides and allies including his family and longtime advisers filled the Capitol.
Trump called for “national unity” supporting him and the MAGA nationalist movement, but also took shots at his political opponents and replayed grievances in his second inaugural address, delivered in the center of the Capitol where just four years earlier his rioters attempted a violent overthrow of the U.S. government, fueled by the belief shadowy forces had taken the 2020 election from him.
“The golden age of America begins right now,” Trump said, adding that he would fight the “corrupt” establishment and end the “weaponization of the Justice Department” following on the heels of historic criminal and civil trials, including being convicted in New York of campaign fraud.
Trump presented himself as someone distinctly graced by God, despite only narrowly winning his second election and accused unnamed opponents of attempting to assassinate him, but said he was returned to the White House by God.

But Sen. Deb Fischer, the Nebraska Republican and other co-chair of the inaugural committee, followed Klobuchar by noting that America routinely embraced change, guided by the people and the voters — a brief speech which foreshadowed many of Trump’s themes.
Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who narrowly lost to Trump in the popular vote count and could potentially run for White House again, sat routinely through Trump’s applause lines as much of the rest of the room stood in extended applause.
