The Executive Branch of the United States Government can not just talk like WWE or simply with bravado. Whether they respect it or not, they have the gravitas of the whole country in their pronouncements and the degree to which they profane that responsibility is the degree to which they render themselves illegitimate. The regime may have been legitimately elected to office but they have failed to live up to that honor.

Loving this because my thesis was on “The Purpose of Practicing Politics with a Purpose” for the common good.

“In the end,” he wrote, “all the beautiful, elegant things in life, the things that I care about, the things that matter, depend on getting the politics right. Because in those societies where they get it wrong, everything else is destroyed, everything else is leveled.”

Truer words. We're seeing the destruction in live, living color and I feel that most of the nation still doesn't believe it's happening to us.

I've given a lot of thought lately to the fact that the US has never been as special as it's believed itself to be or is portrayed. I can point to slavery, the ousting and slaughtering of native populations and cultures that existed before we ever arrived on these shores. We always did it with violence, too. The Wild West? Oh yeah... violence.

More slavery, mass Chinese gravesites, Japanese encampments of American citizens. Jim Crow, which we seem to be returning fully to, although the umbrella that is targeting "other" has grown exponetially. Black, Brown, Liberal, Female. And still most don't want to admit this, nor take accountability. Sins of these magnitudes, in my opinion, always have a consequence, even if it takes hundreds of years. I hope that as a nation we will be able to address them and stop pretending that we're particularly special or unique in this world. The thing we seem to be very good at is violence.

Now it's announced that we'll have a government that will be dedicated fully to monitoring "left and liberal leaning publications, shows, citizens and leaders." Right leanings folks that whip out their weapons, try to destroy our capitol, attack FBI offices, hammer innocent men in their homes and convicted felons are pardoned or released, but it's those lefties that are the danger.

The cruelty and hate is the point. Keep the nation at a boiling point; it improves the chances of peaceful protests turning less peaceful and gives Trump, Hegseth and Right leaning Governors the green light to bring out... .fire hoses, dogs, guns? It's not as if we've not already seen this show, with the same rhetoric coming from the right. But how dangerous that it's coming from the White House.

I was always told that it was our laws and our legal system that made us great, that differentiated us from every other country in the world. When push came to shove, our congress and courts protected the citizens.

Our legal system gave unlimited power to the President. The majority branch of the government betrayed both their oaths and their country, unifying behind the most corrupt man we've ever seen near the White House. I don't think it's fear at all that drives them, though. I believe it's greed and ennui. They have nothing that they stand for other than those two things. I'm judging them by their actions. I don't listen to them anymore.

Sure, they're saying decency and "Christianity" but their actions don't say that at all.

There is no state in the union that more closely ties religion, particularly Christianity, with government. Yet they have a death penalty. I wonder if the irony is lost on literally all of them.

"Taken at its word, that’s fascism. " Wha!? Where? Here? In America!!?? Get outta here. smh

"..maybe it’s all just WWE talk and bravado..." Yes folks obviously, since the beginning of his term it's been nothing but bluff.

Charles Krauthammer .... “In the end,” he wrote, “all the beautiful, elegant things in life, the things that I care about, the things that matter, depend on getting the politics right."

That's simply not true. Perhaps "politics" is an aberration. Salt on the wound. A benevolent Monarchy can provide "all the beautiful, elegant things in life". Hell, an enlightened Dictator could do the same. Simply no need for govt directed censorship 'cause everybody is happy, satisfied and content with "all the beautiful, elegant things in life"!

The 7 percent. Bloomberg wrote this morning : "Consumers in the top 10% income distribution accounted for 49.2% of total spending in the second quarter, up from 48.5% in the first, according to Moody’s. That’s the highest level in figures going back to 1989." I mean there's the rationale right there folks. Increase the number of " wealthies" and make them more wealthy and the economy can run itself with everybody else being slaves. I mean lets face it for the majority "all the beautiful, elegant things in life" are comprised of the Super Bowl, a cold beer, a tasteful porn site, good movies and tv, a cool pair of runners, boots and blue jeans and a compact yet powerful handgun.(and whatever the wife/girlfriend wants, within reason). Big Macs and KFC goes without saying right?

All this talk, concern, anguish, freak out about politics is much a do about nothing.

Go with the flow. Be gracious and thankful about your lot in life. All men are not created equal and the sooner you realize and accept that “all the beautiful, elegant things in life," will be yours.
