🚨🚨 Please welcome
, 24sight News’ very first intern! I’m very excited to have Kaylie on board, she’s a senior at Fisher College in Boston, studying journalism. She’s coming on at one of the wildest moments in modern American history and will be writing, researching and more here. Welcome, Kaylie, to the 24sight family! 🚨🚨Programming notes: Catch me Wednesday morning, 730a ET on SiriusXM 124 with The Laura Coates! We’re making sense of the madness. Later
and I will have our latest episode of The Ground Game up with the wiseIn case you missed, 24sight’s columnists:
Dr. Michael Cohen, “The Level”: Trump’s long game on immigration
Ian Walters, “The Booboisie”: The exclamation point of public service
A letter from the editor
Get ready for four more years of endless outrages, if you let the politicians lead you down their rabbit holes.
The richest man in the world, with keys to the White House, a global satellite network for rent by friends and foes alike a mission to Mars opened the second term of Donald Trump with a Nazi salute, or perhaps a Roman salute. Though an easy way to find out would be to head over to Israel and greet Benjamin Netanyahu that way.
The digital rubbernecking lasted longer than any cycle of presidential pardon outrage. It also gave us zero insight into what he would do to cut spending via his new government agency.
You know who wasn’t there to attempt anything “provocative”? Steve Bannon, the guy who went to jail for four months for refusing to testify about the January 6th insurrection, but exploded spectacularly with Musk over the H1B visa program.
I’m covering Musk and Bannon, along with the rest of the Trump administration, the same way I covered Trump’s first term in office, from 2017 - 2021: steady and cool with an eye on the actions, looking past the bluster to reveal the reality.
A large number of Americans want undocumented immigrants deported, including many of those undocumented immigrants themselves. (Whether this results in that subset self-deporting remains to be seen.) Americans are deeply distrusting of a lot of old institutions, be it the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court or the health insurance companies. The legacy media is under attack from the sitting president.
L.A. is on fire. The price of eggs is through the roof. The Russian invasion of Ukraine continues apace. Tik Tok is not available on the Apple App store in the U.S. The departing president preemptively pardoned a bunch of people who said they didn’t want it, the current president pardoned hundreds more who attacked the Capitol.
That’s exhausting if you click on each story that comes across your social media feed.
But that’s why you got me, to write nut grafs — the summary which pulls the relevant information together into a quick and digestible format so you can read it, feel informed (rather than exhausted) and then get back to your day.
You got STD (s*** to do) and good journalism is about respecting that. I write the 24 Seven like I lay out the news for my friends (it’s easier than writing thousands of text messages.)
To do that, I need your support. Help me stay in the trenches with $5 a month, $50 a year.
You’ve seen how easily Billionaire Big Tech journalism can flop on a dime, be it The Washington Post or the Los Angeles Times.
I keep it normal here when everything else is off the rails.
Cheers,

“STD” is a new one for me. Glad you spelled it out. 🤣🤣
