The Department of Justice is launching an investigation into New York Attorney General Letitia James for alleged deprivation of rights over a civil fraud case brought against President Donald Trump, sources confirmed to 24sight News.
The probe comes in the wake of James successfully suing Trump’s company over allegations of misrepresenting his financial information, resulting in a $300 million penalty. James’ team also sued the NRA leadership.
“Any weaponization of the justice system should disturb every American. We stand strongly behind our successful litigation against the Trump Organization and the National Rifle Association, and we will continue to stand up for New Yorkers’ rights,” the attorney general’s office said in a statement.
James’ office did not immediately respond to request for comment.
