The communications director for Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith quit Thursday morning, as the Indianapolis prosecutor continues its investigation of a topless deepfake viewed in their statehouse office, according to multiple people familiar with the departure.
James Kehoe, who was not involved in the viewing of the deepfake, left after growing frustrations about the management of the office, which built to a head this week as Beckwith repeatedly commented publicly on the deepfake scandal which has embroiled the Indiana statehouse, according to the people who spoke with 24sight News on condition of anonymity.
Kehoe did not immediately respond to multiple requests for comment Thursday. A voicemail message with Beckwith was left by 24sight News seeking comment.
Beckwith has repeatedly denied a deepfake video was watched in his office and said he conducted an internal investigation 24 hours after the news broke that found no evidence of a deepfake.
